With none out and none on, A's batter Jordan Diaz attempted to check his swing on a 1-2 slider from Diamondbacks pitcher Kelly, ruled a ball by HP Umpire Hunter Wendelstedt and affirmed on appeal by 1B Umpire Ballou as no swing. At the time of the ejections, the Diamondbacks were leading, 5-2. The Diamondbacks ultimately won the contest, 5-2.
