With none out and none on, Padres batter Fernando Tatis took a 3-2 fastball from Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the inner half of home plate and below the midpoint (px -0.24, pz 3.51 [sz_top 3.80 / RAD 3.92 / MOE 4.01]), the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Padres were leading, 2-0. The Cardinals ultimately won the contest, 3-2.

With two out and the bases loaded, Machado took a 0-1 fastball from Phillies pitcher Ian Kennedy for a called second strike before striking out swinging. Replays indicate the pitch was located off the outer edge of home plate and thigh-high (px 0.94, pz 2.75), the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejections, the Phillies were leading, 4-3. The Phillies ultimately won the contest, 4-3.

MLB Ejection 067-68 - Tripp Gibson (1-2; SD x2)

HP Umpire Tripp Gibson ejected Padres bench player Manny Machado (check swing strike three call) in the bottom of the 1st and manager Jayce Tingler (check swing ball four call) in the top of the 2nd inning of the #Mets-#Padres game. In the 1st, with two out and one on (R1), Padres batter Fernando Tatis attempted to check his swing on a 3-2 splitter from Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman, ruled a swinging third strike by HP Umpire Gibson. In the 2nd, with none out and none on, Mets batter Dominic Smith attempted to check his swing on a 3-2 fastball by Padres pitcher Chris Paddack for a called fourth ball by HP Umpire Gibson, affirmed as no swing on appeal by 3B Umpire Hunter Wendelstedt. Play was reviewed and adjudicated by the UEFL Appeals Board (9-0; 9-0), both calls were correct. At the time of the ejections, the game was tied, 0-0. The Mets ultimately won the contest, 6-1.

MLB Ejection 056 - Mark Carlson (1; Jayce Tingler)

2B Umpire Mark Carlson ejected Padres manager Jayce Tingler (Replay Review decision that upheld 1B Umpire Chris Segal's out call; QOCY) in the top of the 8th inning of the #Padres-#Astros game. With one out and two on (R1, R2), Padres batter Jurickson Profar hit a 0-1 slider from Astros pitcher Joe Smith on the ground to first baseman Taylor Jones, who threw to Smith as Profar slid head-first toward first base, ruled out by 1B Umpire Segal and upheld after Replay Review as the result of a manager's challenge by Tingler. Replays indicate that while Profar appeared to arrive at the front edge of first base prior to Smith's foot tagging first base, Profar failed to touch first base and did not pass first base prior to Smith's tag, the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Astros were leading, 6-3. The Padres ultimately won the contest, 11-9, in 12 innings.

HP Umpire Lance Barrett ejected Padres Manager Jayce Tingler (balls/strikes; QOCY) in the bottom of the 6th inning of the #Padres-#Dodgers game. With one out and none on, Dodgers batter Chris Taylor took a 3-1 fastball from Padres pitcher Garrett Richards for a called fourth ball, after which Mookie Betts took a 0-0 fastball and 1-0 slider from Richard for called first and second balls before hitting a double; Tingler was ejected during a mound visit/pitching substitution. Replays indicate that of the 10 callable pitches thrown by Richards in the bottom of the 6th inning prior to Tingler's ejection, all 10 were properly officiated (10/10 = 100% accuracy), the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 1-1. The Dodgers ultimately won the contest, 5-1, taking a 1-0 lead in the NLDS.

With two out and two on (R1, R3), Padres batter Manny Machado took a 1-1 slider from Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen for a called second strike as baserunner R1 Trent Grisham stole second base. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the heart of home plate and at the hollow of the knee (px -0.03, pz 1.45 [sz_bot 1.60 / RAD 1.48 / MOE 1.39]) and that all pitches during the at-bat (including the preceding strike two call to Tommy Pham) were properly officiated, the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Dodgers were leading, 7-4.
