In the top of the 4th, with none out and none on, Cubs batter Anthony Rizzo took a first-pitch sinker from Reds pitcher Tejay Antone for a called ball, resulting in warnings issued to both teams following crew consultation. In the bottom of the 4th, with none out and one on (R1), Reds batter Shogo Akiyama took a 2-1 fastball from Cubs pitcher Adbert Alzolay for a called third ball, resulting in crew consultation and a benches-clearing incident.
