MLB Ejections 121-122: James Hoye (3-4; Punto, Melvin)

HP Umpire James Hoye ejected Oakland Athletics 2B Nick Punto and Manager Bob Melvin for arguing a strike three call to end the top of the 9th inning of the Athletics-Mariners game. With two out and one on, Athletics batter Punto took a 3-2 fastball from Mariners pitcher Fernando Rodney for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the inner half of home plate and above the midpoint between the top of the uniform pants and shoulders (px .726, pz 3.267 / sz_top 3.170 [MOE 3.253]), the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the Mariners had won the contest, 3-2.

These are James Hoye (92)'s third and fourth ejections of the 2014 MLB Regular Season.
James Hoye now has -3 points in the UEFL Standings (1 Previous + 2*[2 MLB - 4 Incorrect] = -3).
Crew Chief Bob Davidson now has 5 points in Crew Division (5 Prev + 0 Incorrect Call = 5).

This is the 51st player ejection of 2014. Prior to ejection, Punto was 0-4 in the contest.
This is the 54th Manager ejection of the 2014 MLB Regular Season.
This is the Athletics' 5th ejection of 2014, 2nd in the AL West (TEX 7; OAK 5; SEA 4; HOU 2; LAA 1).
