MLB Instant Replay Review S-14: Jeff Nelson (S-2)

Instant replay affirmed HP Umpire Jeff Nelson's safe call in the top of the 8th inning of the Blue Jays-Astros game. With one out and one on, Blue Jays batter Erik Kratz hit a 1-1 pitch from Astros pitcher Raul Valdes to left fielder J.D. Martinez, who threw to shortstop Carlos Correa to catcher Carlos Perez who attempted to tag Blue Jays baserunner R1 Steve Tolleson at home plate. Upon instant replay review as the result of a challenge by Astros Manager Bo Porter, Nelson's ruling that Tolleson was not tagged prior to touching home plate was upheld, the call was correct. At the time of the instant replay review, the Blue Jays were leading, 3-2. The Astros ultimately won the contest, 4-3.
