MLB Instant Replay Review S-28|29: O'Nora, Hudson (S-1|1)

Instant replay affirmed 3B Brian O'Nora's foul ball call in the top and 1B Umpire Marvin Hudson's safe call in the bottom of the 6th inning of the Red Sox-Twins game. In the top frame, with none out and none on, Napoli hit a 1-1 pitch from Twins pitcher Samuel Deduno to deep left field, past and over the outfield wall. Upon instant replay review as the result of an inquiry by Red Sox Manager John Farrell, O'Nora's ruling that Napoli's drive left the playing field to the foul side of the foul pole was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the instant replay review, the Red Sox were leading, 4-3.

In the bottom half, with two out and one on, Twins batter Darin Mastroianni hit a 1-2 pitch from Red Sox pitcher Brandon Workman to second baseman Jonathan Herrera, who threw to first baseman Brandon Snyder as Mastroianni arrived at first base. Upon instant replay review as the result of a challenge by Red Sox Manager Farrell, Hudson's ruling that Snyder did not catch the ball and tag first base prior to Mastroianni's touch was affirmed, the call was correct.
