MLB Instant Replay Review 078: Vic Carapazza (03)

Instant Replay Review confirmed 1B Umpire Vic Carapazza's out call in the top of the 9th inning of the Pirates-Brewers game. With none out and one on, Pirates batter Russell Martin hit a 1-2 change up from Brewers pitcher Francisco Rodriguez on the ground to third baseman Aramis Ramirez, who threw to second baseman Scooter Gennett to first baseman Mark Reynolds as Martin arrived at first base, Pirates baserunner R1 Josh Harrison out at second base. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle, Carapazza's ruling that Reynolds caught the baseball and maintained contact with first base for a legal tag ahead of Martin's arrival was affirmed, the call was correct.
