MLB Ejection & Replay: Ron Kulpa, L Barrett (2, 07)

HP Umpire Ron Kulpa ejected White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers for arguing a strike three call in the bottom of the 4th and Instant Replay Review upheld 2B Umpire Lance Barrett's out call in the top of the 6th inning of the Indians-White Sox game. In the 4th, with two out and none on, Flowers took a 1-2 fastball from Indians pitcher Josh Tomlin for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the inner edge of home plate and knee-high (px -.784, pz 1.585 / sz_bot 1.570) and that all pitches during the at-bat were properly officiated, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the White Sox were leading, 3-1.

In the 6th, with one out and one on, Indians batter Ryan Raburn hit a 1-1 changeup from White Sox pitcher Jose Quintana on a line drive to right fielder Moises Sierra, who threw to shortstop Alexei Ramirez as Raburn slid into second base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Indians Manager Terry Francona, Barrett's rulings was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the White Sox were leading, 3-2. The White Sox ultimately won the contest, 6-2.
