MLB Replay Review 381-382: Diaz, Fagan (04, 05)

Instant Replay Review overturned HP Umpire Laz Diaz's Rule 7.13 (home plate collision) no-call (out) in the bottom of the 5th and upheld 1B Umpire Clint Fagan's out call in the bottom of the 7th inning of the Pirates-Mets game. In the 5th, with two outs and two on, Mets batter Daniel Murphy hit a 0-2 sinker from Pirates pitcher Brandon Cumpton on a line drive to right fielder Josh Harrison, who threw past third baseman Pedro Alvarez, to catcher Russell Martin as Mets baserunner Juan Lagares slid into home plate. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Mets Manager Terry Collins and initiation by Crew Chief Jeff Nelson, Diaz's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Mets were leading, 1-0.

In the 7th, with two outs and none on, Mets batter Lagares hit a 2-2 sinker from Pirates pitcher Jared Hughes on the ground to third baseman Alvarez, who threw to first baseman Ike Davis as Lagares arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Mets Manager Collins, Fagan's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Mets were leading, 2-0. The Pirates ultimately won the contest, 5-3.
