MLB Instant Replay Review 484: John Tumpane (07)

Instant Replay Review confirmed 1B Umpire John Tumpane's Rule 7.13 violation no-call (out) in the bottom of the 8th inning of the Athletics-Angels game. With one out and one on, Angels batter Mike Trout hit a 2-1 slider from Athletics pitcher Luke Gregerson on a line drive to left fielder Yoenis Cespedes, who threw to catcher Derek Norris as Angels baserunner R1 Howie Kendrick slid into home plate. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Angels Manager Mike Scioscia and initiation by Crew Chief Bob Davidson, Tumpane's ruling was affirmed (both the ruling that Norris did not violate the provisions of the anti-blocking Rule 7.13 and the issue of whether the baserunner was safe/out), the call was correct. At the time of the review, the contest was tied, 1-1. The Angels ultimately won the contest, 2-1, in 14 innings.

This is John Tumpane (74)'s seventh Replay Review of the 2014 MLB Regular Season.
This is Crew Chief Bob Davidson's 17th supervised Replay Review of the 2014 season.

This is the 484th Instant Replay Review of the 2014 MLB Regular Season.
This is Angels Manager Mike Scioscia's 19th Replay Review of 2014.
Umpires are now 257/484 (.531 Affirmation Rate) in Replay Reviews during the 2014 MLB season.
