MLB Instant Replay Review 139: Jordan Baker (02)

Instant Replay Review upheld 3B Umpire Jordan Baker's safe call in the top of the 8th inning of the Angels-Nationals game. With one out and one on, Angels baserunner R2 Erick Aybar attempted to steal third base on a 3-0 sinker from Nationals pitcher Jerry Blevins to catcher Sandy Leon, who threw to third baseman Anthony Rendon as Aybar arrived at third base. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Nationals Manager Matt Williams, Baker's ruling that Rendon did not tag Aybar while he was off his base was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Angels were leading, 6-2. The Angels ultimately won the contest, 7-2.

The MLB replay system is slowly-but-surely becoming as unpredictable as the NFL's replay system. As the guys pull the headsets off, you're saying to yourself: "ok...they're gonna go ahead and get this one right..." BOOM. It's not conclusive? What?

It's ok though. No more blown-perfect games and they get a couple extra minutes worth of time for advertisements.
