MLB Replay Reviews 530-531: L Barrett, Hoberg (08, 05)

Instant Replay Review overturned 3B Umpire Lance Barrett's No HR (live ball, in play) call in the top of the 3rd and upheld 1B Umpire Pat Hoberg's safe call in the bottom of the 5th inning of the Orioles-Rays game. In the 3rd, with one out and three on, Orioles batter Chris Davis hit a 0-2 fastball from Rays pitcher Erik Bedard on a fly ball to deep left field near the outfield wall. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Orioles Manager Buck Showalter and initiation by Crew Chief Ron Kulpa, Barrett's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Orioles were leading, 3-0.

In the 5th, with one out and one on, Rays batter Evan Longoria hit a 1-2 fastball from Orioles pitcher Miguel Gonzalez on the ground to third baseman Manny Machado, who threw to first baseman Davis as Longoria arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Orioles Manager Buck Showalter, Hoberg's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Orioles were leading, 5-2. The Orioles ultimately won the contest, 7-5.
